When parents are starting think about how to education their children they are usually faced with the question of whether or not they should enroll their children in home school or have their children attend public school. There are benefits and negatives on both side of the decision.
In favor of public school, many parents feel that being in a classroom setting and interacting with other children and instructors is a very important part of a child’s life. Parents tend to feel that there are many life lessons within the four walls of a school that cannot be taught anywhere else. Lessons like sharing, team work, and self discipline. There are other aspects of school like making presentations in front of a class and working in teams that children will not experience when they are home schooled.
However, parents in favor of homeschooling make the argument that the classroom setting with large numbers of children and only one teacher is not as conducive to learning as the one on one time a child will get from working with their parent. Many children not only learn better in an environment where there is less distractions but they are able to learn larger amounts of information at a faster pace. Homeschooling programs also continue through high school meaning that a children can complete all their schooling through home school. Parents also say that home school programs are more advanced and interactive as the schooling is mostly done online which allows children who are home school to connect with other home schooled children so the children are not so isolated.
